Alun-Alun Bandung, Bandung City Center

    Hello, this time I want to describe a place that I often visited it, Alun-Alun Bandung. Alun-Alun Bandung is a city park that located at Asia Afrika Street, Balonggede, Kecamatan Regol. Alun-Alun Bandung location is near to Gedung Merdeka, Braga Street, and many trade center and historical building. This city center almost busy and crowded by visitors everyday, especially on Sunday and Saturday.

    Because  the location is strategic and near the center of Bandung, this city hall and area around it always busy and crowded, both workers or visitors. The area around Alun-Alun Bandung is an office complex and trade center. Many important building in that area, starting from Menara BRI Bandung, Pasar Baru, Pikiran Rakyat, etc. Because of the location, many public transportation for the workers and visitors that pass Alun-Alun Bandung. For visitors, there are many restaurants and hotel near Asia Afrika, like Savoy Homann Hotel, Mercure Hotel, Preanger Hotel and so many more.

    When Asia-Africa Conferences in 1955 held, this mosque was renovated in the large scale. Ir. Soekarno, gave a design for Masjid Raya Bandung, that made this mosque almost totally different from previously, starting from the dome's shape, the mosque hall, etc. This is for the guest that present in Asia-Africa Conferences.

Alun-Alun Bandung, 1955-1970

    Alun-Alun Bandung is built in area size 1200 m2, and some place in Alun-Alun Bandung is :

1. Masjid Raya Bandung. This mosque has 2 big tower and 3 dome, which tower height is 81 meters and the dome diameter is 30 meters. This mosque have capacity for 12.000-14.000 prayer.

2. Field. The field is made by synthetic grass. In this field, many visitors eat, relax, and play when they are at Alun-Alun Bandung.

3. Bus stop. There is a bus stop that the size is very long and functioned for people ride public transportation. The public transportation that usually pass this stop is City Bus, School Bus, angkot, etc.

4. Parking Area. The location is in the basement.

    Although this city hall is looks beautiful, but now it's dirty and taken care by the management. There are so many trash, especially in the basement and bus stop. The basement is looks dirty, many hawker that often littering. The condition in the bus stop is dirty too, and always make traffic jam in Asia Afrika Street.

    To make Alun-Alun Bandung much better and more comfortable for people, needed contribution of any people layer and those who visit Alun-Alun Bandung, so this city hall is could be better than before.
